Forget jumptown, someone could just nuke it from orbit. Events would easily end far quicker than they do now, player bounties would get picked off in an instant, preventing players from being unlawfully aligned, the only fun people would have is in missions that aren't meant to bring players together. Then let's assume that they put it in the game two release before it would be balanced within the world, that would still be at least two months (won't go on sale for aUEC, immediately) where the game was dominated by the Polaris. Let's cut it down to 2 hours a day, and assume it would take a month. (Even Hammerheads make the system feel more sparse when they're properly crewed.) I think the same of all big ships, excluding the 890 Jump, because the current implementation of mechanics just don't support ships with a crew larger than six. I believe the same thing for the Merchantman, I don't think it'll release without the same tech, it just wouldn't be feasible, it would eat up the economy and make the instance feel empty. So until we see major Tech improvements, we won't see Polaris, once we do though, it will probably be the first big ship pushed through though. I don't think it will appear until the alpha supports more than 50 people per instance, because having a Polris on a server would mean that a quarter of the players (assuming it is being crewed properly) are in one ship, and that would ruin the simulated universe. Same reason the Idris isn't in our hands, that's what's keeping it off the roadmap. The Polaris, like I said, loses those spots to other ships, because it just does not fit in the game like other ships do now. After that is production, which yes, they don't have spots for it. They basically said it was in the same shape as the Odyssey, if you're referring to the Polaris. Like I said, it will be a threat at range to any other cap ship and can support a fleet with its radar, hangar bay, and medbay. I love it, own it, and plan to make good use of it. Even small ships can overwhelm it's relatively small shielding if they can outfly the gunners, which honestly isn't that hard. A Tali can tear it a new asshole if it doesn't shoot the tali out of the sky before she gets her torpedos off. In the current state of the game, it is not at all solo or small group friendly since it really needs a decent fleet to keep it from getting picked off by agile and tough ships with big guns like the Redeemer, Ares, or even a Vanguard. It has a very large crew requirement to be combat effective (9 minimum for all guns plus a fighter) and is ultimately crew inefficient for the firepower it offers. It's unique in that it's the only ship in the game so far besides the Javelin with a capital class sensor suite, which means it works great as the center of a fleet as an AWACS ship with minimal ammo/repair/medical support for a small wing of fighters and anti-cap deterrence against large threats that don't currently yet exist in the game except during limited events. What it does have, however, is a higher combat range than any other ship in the game and is one of a handful of ships so far that has a medbay. It's fragile for a capital ship, barely gunned enough to theoretically counter a wing of light fighters, and can bring just a single fighter into the fight to support it. It has a torpedo loadout in line with 4 Talis, turret firepower well below half the potential DPS of a HH with an extra gunner to boot (7 vs HH's 6), and half the shield capacity of an 890, which gets melted by plenty of ships in the game already. It isn't at all like bringing any of what you said above. The ship itself is not OP, it's main driver is useless against all ships under a certain size, so it's just got a lot of turrets, it is okay in PvP, but it's just too capable when compared to the PvE we have now. This is what I say when I don't want to ruin the fun of others, the game work with the ships we have now, adding some of the bigger ones will break balance of the simulated universe. The events will probably evolve to make sure that one ship can't just take care of everything before anyone has a chance to participate. I would presume that it could take out all least 1 Idris alone with it's torpedoes, so it could end half of the final phase before people could even quantum in. It's size 10 torps will make short work of events like Xenothreat. But as it stands, it's like bringing 10x Talis and Hammerhead, and an extra fighter. It won't be OP when it is introduced, because it will be introduced in an environment where it will be balanced.
